PIMS Announces PIMS-Globalink Student Mobility Program
PIMS-Globalink Student Mobility Program - Mitacs partner countries to CANADA
PIMS is pleased to offer a new program, in partnership with Mitacs and leveraging Mitacs Globalink, to support visits by students from Mitacs partner countries to carry out research at PIMS member universities. This award provides $6000 (CAD) for senior undergraduate and graduate students from these countries to conduct 12-24 week research projects at PIMS member universities. This program is offered under the umbrella of PIMS-Mitacs, CNRS Unité Mixte Internationale #3069. Applications are accepted any time, awarded competitively, and subject to available funding.
Eligibility requirements for prospective students:
- Must be a senior undergraduate or graduate student (Master's or PhD).
- Must be enrolled for full-time studies at an accredited and eligible university or institution in any of the Mitacs partner countries, and remain so throughout their Globalink Research Award; Undergraduate applicants must have completed their second year of studies prior to starting their project in Canada.
- Cannot undertake a research project at an institution where they have previously completed a degree and/or been employed.
- Must be above the legal age of Majority in Canada (18 years of age or older).
- Must meet travel requirements for their intended destination, including visa and/or immigration requirements and associated documentation Cannot hold more than one Globalink Research Award per Academic lifetime.
Eligibility requirements for prospective host supervising professors:
- Must hold a faculty position at a Canadian university.
- Must be eligible to supervise graduate students and hold Tri-Council funding Supervising.
- Professors at the University of Washington should contact PIMS for further instructions.
Eligibility requirements for prospective home supervising professors:
- Must be recognized faculty members at their institutions.
- Must be eligible to supervise graduate students.

This award provides $6000 (CAD) for senior undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Canada to conduct 12-24 week research projects at universities that are members of the Mitacs Globalink Program. This program is offered under the umbrella of PIMS-Mitacs, CNRS Unité Mixte Internationale #3069. Applications are accepted any time, awarded competitively, and subject to available funding.
Students and Postdocs
- Must be registered as a senior undergraduates, graduate students, or postdoctoral fellows at a PIMS member university and remain so throughout their Globalink Research Award. Postdoctoral fellows may apply if their date of graduation from a
PhD program is no more than 5 years before the proposed start date of the research project. Undergraduate applicants must have completed their second year of studies prior to departure and maintain a B average in their two most recent semesters. - Cannot undertake a research project at an institution where they have previously completed a degree.
- Cannot undertake a research project in a country where they hold citizenship (unless they are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada).
- Must be above the legal age of majority in Canada (18 years of age or older).
- Must meet the travel requirements for their intended destination, including visa and/or immigration requirements and associated documentation.
- Cannot hold more than one Globalink Research Award per academic lifetime.
- Cannot have previously held a Mitacs-JSPS Summer Program award.
Home supervising professors
- Must hold a faculty position at a PIMS member University.
- Must be eligible to hold Tri-Council funding and to supervise graduate students.
- Supervising Professors at the University of Washington should contact PIMS for further instructions.
