PIMS - USaskatchewan Summer School on Algebraic Geometry in High-Energy Physics
Speakers
Details
In the latter decades of the 20th Century, string theory and in particular mirror symmetry paved the way for new interactions between algebraic geometry and high-energy physics. Techniques and ideas related to moduli spaces of curves, enumerative geometry, toric geometry, superconformal algebras, integrable systems, the geometric Langlands program, and topological recursion are now staples of 21st Century physics where they have found applications in computing scattering amplitudes, calculating Gromov-Witten invariants, and expressing mathematically the predictions of the anti-de Sitter / conformal field theory (AdS / CFT) correspondence.
This summer school will expose graduate students and recent postdoctoral fellows from mathematics to novel applications of geometry in theoretical physics and, for those from physics, to powerful algebro-geometric techniques that can be deployed in their work.

Requests for Travel Assistance:
Please email organizer Steven Rayan (rayan "at" math.usask.ca) to be considered for (limited) travel support. Travel funds can only be used for junior participants (incl. postdocs), but with higher priority for students and for those travelling from within the PIMS Network or from Ontario.
Non-Canadian Particpants:
Organizers cannot write letters of invitation or assist with any visa or entry matters. Please note that non-Canadians entering Canada may need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) in addition to appropriate visas. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that they have the proper documentation and clearance for travel.
Accommodation:
If you require accommodation, residence rooms on the U of S campus are available at a discounted nightly fee. The residence rooms are located only a 3-minute walk from the lecture rooms and there is a breakfast option. Please click here to reserve a room. (Note: Registration for the summer school does not automatically include accommodation.)
Online Security:
PIMS will not contact you to sell travel and accommodation packages for this event. Please be vigilant should you receive any emails, calls or text messages claiming to assist you in making reservations for a PIMS event. Do not provide any personal information such as a social insurance number, credit card number, bank account number, or passport number as these requests are fraudulent in nature.
