Topic
Optimal Tree Aspect Ratios Among Gradients in Resource Availability
Speakers
Details
Abstract:
Tree aspect ratios have been show to be of significance in field ecology and plant allometry. An understanding of why it is imperative for a particular species of trees to grow the way it does, is warranted. We suggest a model that ascribes the growth and aspect ratio of trees to the availability of resources. Preliminary results are discussed and compared with data for known species.
