PIMS/AMI/GMU/China Institute Distinguished Visitor Lecture
Topic
Size Effects, Scale Invariance, Scale Gap in Multi-physical Modeling and Computations
Speakers
Details
The size effects at micro/nano-scale are first discussed. The scale invariance and the applications in mathematical modeling at nano-scale is then presented. An important concept such as the scale gap is introduced and we particularly discuss the scale gap between Molecular dynamics (MD) and FEM based on a continuum model. Numerical results of MD/FEM coupled model for a heat transfer problem in composite materials and the interfaces are reported.
